Treating Menopause With Of Bioidentical Hormone (Bhrt)
Bioidentical Hormones (BHRT) Are Used To Treat Menopause
Bioidentical Hormones - BHRT is a form of replacement therapy used to treat perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause, and any woman considering this treatment should ask questions. BHRT has been found to be better than using synthetic hormone as they are effectively able to mimic the identical structure of the female hormones found in the body.
As these hormones are derived from natural sources, such as Soybean and Wild Yam, they are completely natural derivatives and this makes them safer and more effective than synthetically manufactured hormones. Every woman has different hormone replacement requirements and as such a cocktail is prescribes which fits the unique need of the patient. Bioidentical Hormones are cheaper to manufacture and their benefits are many.
Every prescription is unique and just as you can walk into drug store and purchase reading spectacles over the counter, so too can these cocktails of hormones be purchased. They are packaged in different strengths, for different needs over the course of the treatment and can be adjusted, should adjustment be required. Requirements are determined by blood tests carried out by the doctor.
When the doctor conducts these tests he is able to assess the amount of hormone decline in each patient. Thereafter a static dose is administered and this can be tweaked according to need. The best scenario is to find a balance of hormone replacement therapy with mimics the natural manufacture of hormones in the body.
These hormones are administered in different ways, the one way we have already mentioned is static dosage. The other is rhythmic cycling, and this is a fairly new approach which aims to imitate the hormonal status of a woman when she is at her most reproductive. BHRT may be administered by injection, orally, the application of creams or suppository.
The reason for hormone replacement therapy has become blatantly obvious in recent times. It has been found that after menopause, women are more at risk of breast cancer, heart attacks and stroke and this is related to the menopausal hormone imbalance. During a woman's 30's her hormones are the most balanced and this is when they are most protected against these dread diseases, in particular breast cancer.
Progesterone levels begin to diminish in the late 30's and around ten years later estrogen degeneration follows. E3 or Estriol is the estrogen responsible for preventing blood clots and it also protects the breast from cancer. At this age E3 drops dramatically and E1 (Estrone) production increases. E1 is remarkable in that it promotes the development of Breast cancer and is considered to be carcinogenic, and it also promotes blood clotting. E3 levels drop from a high of 80% to a low of 10% and E1 increases from 10% to 80%.
Synthetic hormones for replacement purposes have been tested and massive research studies have been conducted, only to find that they are not able to effectively mimic R3, and in fact weight towards the production of E1.
It is ideal to commence with BHRT at the onset of menopause, or at least within ten years of onset. This treatment has shown conclusively to be able to protect the skin, bones, brain heart and breasts. The outcome is a longer and healthier life!
